The producer for the incredibly popular Code Geass Anime franchise, Yoshitaka Kawaguchi, announced last Thursday that the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Anime series will be getting a film adaptation; and clarified the fact that it has nothing at all to do with the also upcoming Code Geass: Akito the Exiled Anime series.
Code Geass: Akito the Exiled (Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito), is set to screen in 10 theaters throughout Japan during Summer, 2012, which was confirmed by Sunrise the same day (Thursday). Akito will be played by Miyu Irino, whilst Reira Marukaru will be played by Maaya Sakamoto.
Also announced, was an all-male musical, in addition to the previously announced non-musical stage play (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion: Souran Eve). Japanese Mobile game platform, Mobage, will be launching a social game this Spring. A pachinko slot machine is also in the works, according to the official website.
Continuing with the barrage of Code Geass news, Code Geass‘ official website revealed (again!) on Thursday, that an OVA of Nunnally in Wonderland will be released both on DVD and Blu-ray sometime this year. Both editions will be accompanied by a 40-page picture book that recounts the same story as the Anime.
The character designer for the original Code Geass Anime series, Takahiro Kimura, will be taking the lead as animation director, and will contribute new designs for the project. In this story, Lelouch makes the ultimate use of his powerful Geass power for Nunnally, his little sister, who loves the Alice in Wonderland story.
Nunnally in Wonderland is going to be directed by Makoto Baba, who was an episode director on the original Code Geass series’. Yuuichi Nomura (episode scriptwriter), Takahiro Kimura (animation director/character designer), and musical composer Kotaro Nakagawa are also returning from the original TV series.
